Nice USM1 helmet from the Fifth United States Army, one of the main formations of the U.S. Army in the Mediterranean during World War ll. It was activated on 5 January at Oujda, French Morocco and made responsible for the defense of Algeria and Morocco. It was also given the responsibility for planning the American part of the invasion of mainland Italy. It first saw action during Operation Avalanche, the assault landings at Salerno in Septembre 1943.
USM1 helmet, fixed bales, original canvas straps with brass buckles that have been replaced (glued), it comes with its FIRESTON liner. The shell still retains more than 85% of the factory green paint, the front painted insignia rates 95% and on the liner close to 99%, Technician 5th Grade also present. The outside of the liner is in very good condition, the inside is damaged and parts are missing. Nice set and not so often seen !
